This past week a client requested a Manual Lymphatic Drainage session with me and the results were stunning. In the pre treatment photo you can see in her right knee there isn’t much definition and you can barely see the knee cap. During our pre treatment consultation she shared with me that she
- Suffered a clean bone fracture through her knee about 2 months ago
- several muscles had to be completely severed and re-attached onto their respective bones
- She was unable to walk and was bed ridden for 7 weeks
Prior to our appointment she had only been mobile for about a week and walks longer than 20 minutes were understandably very challenging but doable for her.
Our session lasted 75 minutes and I used about half of our time stimulating the deep lymph nodes in her abdomen, hip flexor, arm pit, and around the neck. The other half of our session was used manipulating lymph directly on her right knee that was swollen.
When looking at the post treatment photos we can see that both knees show significantly more detail in their bone structures and much less fluid.
After our session we debriefed and she explained how it felt easier and more natural to walk, she felt lighter overall and the session helped calm down her nervous system.
Our body’s lymphatic systems play an important role in overall health and maintaining homeostasis. When we are unable to move due to injury or surgeries our lymphatic systems are not functioning at their normal capacity and as a result our bodies may struggle to fight infections, retain excess fluid and swell, build up toxins and waste and be unable to properly absorb dietary fats.
